Beyond the 49th Parallel is an international partnership between Canada's South Saskatchewan Ready and Montana's Missouri River Country. As the name implies, our collaboration encourages curious travelers to explore two captivating countries by venturing beyond the border of their homeland to experience what lies on the other side. Beyond the 49th Parallel provides inspiration, itineraries and international travel planning support to help travelers seize the chance to experience both of these awe-inspiring places in a single trip.
An economic partnership created in 2020, South Saskatchewan Ready (SSR) represents nine rural communities and municipalities in the southernmost stretches of the Saskatchewan province. SSR puts a spotlight on these nine places—their proud histories, bright futures and the opportunities they afford for investment and exploration.
These nine locations rise from the prairie, rolling hills and river valleys that mark South Saskatchewan. Learn more about the Canadian communities and municipalities that you’ll encounter in our Beyond the 49th Parallel itineraries here:

The Missouri River Country Talking Trail and the Montana Dinosaur Trail are two noteworthy trails that run through Montana’s Missouri River Country. These trails coincide with Beyond the 49th Parallel trip routes in several places, which are noted in the itineraries.
This interactive trail highlights points of historical, natural, recreational and cultural interest — referred to as Talking Points — in audio stories accessed through the Talking Trail app. Download the free app (available for both iOS and Android) and give a listen when you visit a Talking Point for an even richer travel experience.
Dinosaur Trail includes 14 museums across the state where visitors can learn about the dinosaurs that once roamed the land we now know as Montana. At these sites, guests will find dinosaur fossils, replicas and skeletons as well as engaging exhibits that bring the prehistoric past to life.
